Mosaic on MTV

Congratulations to Mosaic who made it thru the first round of the MTV contest America's Top Pop Group. The six-member group was formed about three years ago in Orlando by Josh Huslig, who "wanted to change people's perception of a cappella groups," according to the band's bio on MTV's Web site. The band eventually moved to Las Vegas where they have been performing regularly as the opening act for George Wallace in the Flamingo Showroom. This is a group on the rise and we wish them good luck in the competition.

The Mosaic guys held on through week two just fine...They performed "Makes Me Wonder" by Maroon 5. Their arrangement had a slick half-time section that was a nice surprise. Goto:/www.mtv.com/overdrive/?id=1595201
and check it out. MTV's site sometimes doesn't load the player correctly, but refreshing usually does the trick. The thing that totally sucks for an acapella group is the sound coming through the broadcast...the other group's tracks sound just fine, but for Mosaic, you can't hear the bottom end!!! I wish them the best this week...MAKE SURE TO TUNE IN AND VOTE!!! Help get vocal music into the mainstream!!!

MOSAIC rocks the 3rd episode with, get this..."Let's get it Started" by the Black Eyed Peas!!! I'm sure they felt some pressure having to perform this in FRONT OF Taboo! I know I wouldn't have enjoyed that stress! Having what I timed out to be less than a minute and a half for each group (I hope they give them longer as the contest goes on), Mosaic chose to chop up the song and include a bunch of ridiculously cool elements! It started off with their percussionist, Troy, pretending to put a needle on a dusty record...simply amazing. Next they went right into the chorus followed by only half of Taboo's verse. Next was both great AND disappointing...Troy started into a percussion solo and was joined (way to soon) by Sean and some scratching. I say disappointing because it was over before it really began...time constraints I guess? They finished it off with a vinyl slow-down and ramp back up into a closing chorus. Taboo seemed to really like the performance as did the other judges.

Remember to watch on Thursdays at 10pm EST and vote, vote vote!!!Let's keep these guys in the running and get this music into the mainstream!!!
